This is stated on the website of the regional branch of the UK.

“The investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of Russia in St. Petersburg have opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art.

318 of the Criminal Code of Russia (use of violence against a government official), ”the statement reads.

From the materials of the criminal case, it follows that an unknown person on January 23 at Senate Square during an unauthorized rally, in response to a traffic police officer's remark about the need to observe law and order, punched him in the face, from which the latter fell to the asphalt.

After that, running away from the scene, the attacker also hit the victim's colleague, who tried to detain him, and disappeared among the protesters.

"Currently, active measures are being taken to identify and detain a suspect," the UK noted.

Earlier, investigators in Vladivostok opened two criminal cases on the use of violence against a government official at an uncoordinated rally.
