A Japanese priest who had launched a kitty to renovate his temple, partially destroyed by a typhoon, was surprised to observe a massive mobilization of players in "Ghost of Tsushima".

This samurai game released in 2020 takes place on Tsushima Island, where the temple in question is located.

The result: a prize pool six times higher than expected.

The

gamers

have heart and they constantly prove.

Regularly mobilized during charity events, such as ZEvent, video game players have once again done a good deed.

The story, reported by the Famitsu site, takes place in Japan, where a priest launched an online kitty to renovate his temple, devastated by a typhoon at the end of 2020. He hoped to get 40,000 euros but he finally received… 215,000!

To his surprise, he discovered a massive mobilization of players from

Ghost of Tsushima

, one of the most popular video games of 2020.

Ghost of Tsushima

has marked players

Watatomi Temple is located on Tsushima Island, a small piece of land in western Japan.

It is not the most touristic island in the country, but it is the setting for

Ghost of Tsushima.

Released in July 2020, this game chronicles the Mongol invasion of the island in the 13th century.

The player embodies Jin Sakai, a fallen samurai but determined to reclaim his island from the invaders.

Taking, dynamic and visually splendid,

Ghost of Tsushima

we really liked when it was released.

Since then, the game has met with great success since it has sold more than five million copies.

Seeing his kitty swelling abnormally quickly, the priest of the temple of Watatomi discovered, in the comments of the site, dozens of references to

Ghost of Tsushima

.

Blown away by the splendid landscapes represented in the game, the players explained that they wanted to give back to the temple the pleasure they felt while surveying the island in front of their television screens.

Indeed, it is, of course, a samurai game where blood flows freely, but it is full of contemplative moments, in particular explorations of sanctuaries or phases of observation of nature to compose haikus, the short Japanese poems.

The temple will be renovated for the summer

Despite the abundance of reconstructed temples in

Ghost of Tsushima

, Watatomi Shrine is not one of them.

But players have, it seems, been inspired by the Zen philosophy of the game when it comes to pulling out their wallets.

The temple priest did not fail to thank them for their generosity.

“We have received great support from the players of the

Ghost of Tsushima game

and I believe they have been guided by God,” he wrote on the prize pool page.

In total, some 2,000 people donated.

Thanks to the money collected, the priest let it be known that he would be able to finance further repairs.

The torii, the traditional portal of the temple, which collapsed after the typhoon hit, will be put back on its feet and the buildings will receive a lick of paint.

As for donors who have donated more than 80 euros, their names will be inscribed on a stone monument.

Work will begin in April and should be completed in August.
