Konstanz / Marbach (dpa) - Of all things, a 69-year-old car broke down on a barrier-free level crossing in Marbach on Saturday due to a technical defect.

At the last moment, the woman managed to get out of the vehicle: A train caught her car and hurled it against the railway barrier, as the Constance police headquarters announced in the evening.

The woman got away with the horror of the accident in the early afternoon.

According to the police, one of the ten passengers on the train was slightly injured.

Significant damage totaling almost 100,000 euros was caused to the car, the train and the barrier system.

The woman was on the way from Marbach towards Rietheim.
