Three people have been taken to hospital by ambulance after a head-on collision on the E20 just north of Vårgårda, according to SOS Alarm.
The accident occurred at the height of Saxtorp at half past six on Saturday night.
- All ambulances that are to be alerted have left the scene.
Right now, five units remain from the rescue service, says Sara Tunklev, team leader at SOS Alarm.
Traffic has been shut down in both directions, according to police.
Neither SOS Alarm nor the police can comment on whether the persons are seriously injured.
- We work full time on site, there is a total stop in traffic. It seems to be a serious accident, but we can not comment on the damage, says Ann-Christin Löfstrand, duty officer at the police.
