The Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, Mattar Al Tayer, announced the completion of the project of implementing three public transport bus stations, namely: Al Jafiliya, Etisalat, and Al Ittihad, distributed over areas: Al Jafiliya, Al Qusais and Deira, to be added to the Al Ghubaiba station that was opened in Last quarter of last year.
He said that the establishment of the stations comes as a continuation of the authority’s efforts in developing the infrastructure of the mass transit system, with the aim of encouraging residents to use mass transportation in their daily commute.
Al Tayer explained that the Al Jafiliya Bus Station includes a building for the bus station, and a multi-storey building consisting of a ground floor, two floors and a roof for vehicle parking, and the total built area is 19,000 square meters, of which 484 square meters are office spaces, 595 square meters are passenger waiting areas, and six bus stops are included. And 503 parking lots for vehicles, and 30 parking lots for bicycles. The station’s capacity is estimated at 7,000 passengers. The station serves five bus lines, rising to six lines during the Expo.
He added: “The Union Square bus station in Deira is distinguished by its modern engineering design. It includes three buildings. The station covers an area of 2,180 square meters. It includes office spaces and customer service spaces. It includes 14 bus stops, 46 vehicle stops, and 20 bike stands. The station has a capacity of 7,500 passengers, and the station serves seven bus lines, rising to eight lines during the (Expo) exhibition.
Al Tayer pointed out that the bus station connected to the Etisalat Metro Station on the Green Line of the Dubai Metro, consists of a ground building and a mezzanine, with an area of 708 square meters, and includes office spaces and customer service spaces, and includes 24 bus stops, 20 bus stops, and 50 bike stands. The station has a capacity of 4,500 passengers, and the station serves seven bus lines, rising to eight lines during the period of the Expo.
