Berlin (dpa) - At a demonstration right in front of the Olympic Stadium, around 250 fans called for the resignation of Hertha manager Michael Preetz and the club leadership around President Werner Gegenbauer.

A few hours before the Bundesliga game between Berlin and Werder Bremen on Saturday evening (6.30 p.m. / Sky), the supporters accused Preetz in particular of years of mismanagement on posters and in speeches.

The police had approved the action and monitored compliance with the corona regulations with several emergency services.

Preetz reacted relaxed to the announcement of the event on Thursday.

"Anyone who is responsible has to face criticism," said the 53-year-old.

At the start of the second half of the season, Hertha is only a few points ahead of the relegation zone despite major investments in the Bundesliga.

However, Preetz continues to enjoy great support in parts of the supporters.

The organizer ended the demo faster than expected.

Most of the participants left the Olympic Square shortly before 3:30 p.m., the kick-off time for further Bundesliga games.
