Hamburg (dpa / lno) - The corona pandemic almost brought tourism in Hamburg to a standstill in November.

With the beginning of the ban on accommodation for private travelers, the number of guests fell by almost 90 percent to 66,000 compared to the same month last year, the North Statistics Office announced on Friday.

The number of overnight stays has been reduced by a good 85 percent to 180,000.

From January to November 2020, the number of guests fell compared to the previous year by 55.7 percent to around 3.12 million.

The number of overnight stays fell by 52.8 percent to around 6.73 million.

The few November guests came mostly from Germany (88.4 percent) and booked 149,000 overnight stays.

Foreign guests (11.6 percent) reserved 31,000 nights.

Most of them were reported to be from Poland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Spain and France.

The statistics office included 366 open accommodation facilities with 66,087 beds in its survey.

According to the information, the average bed occupancy was 10.5 percent, the average length of stay 2.7 days.
