China News Service, January 22. According to Korean media reports, on the morning of the 22nd local time, the Ministry of National Defense of South Korea transported 32 vehicles equipped with engineering equipment and materials to the THAAD base in Seongju, North Gyeongsang Province.

More than 50 people demonstrated and the police forced an evacuation.

Starting at 9:45 am local time on the 22nd, the police dispatched more than 600 police officers to forcibly evacuate the protesters against the "THAAD" in front of the Shaocheng-ri Village Hall in Chotian-myeon, Seongju-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do.

The demonstrators placed their bodies on the ladder and demanded that the construction of the "THAAD" base be interrupted and the engineering equipment and materials should be withdrawn.

However, a relevant person from the South Korean Ministry of National Defense stated that the materials brought into the base "have nothing to do with (THAAD) performance improvement, but have dispatched engineering materials, equipment, waste transportation vehicles, and non-staple food for officers and soldiers to the base."

According to previous reports, on October 22, 2020, the South Korean Ministry of National Defense transported equipment and materials to the "THAAD" base in Seongju and dispatched more than 800 police officers to maintain order.

More than 70 residents resisted fiercely from members of the anti-THAAD group, and many people were injured and sent to hospital due to forced evacuation by the police.

On November 27, the South Korean Ministry of National Defense claimed to improve the living environment of officers and soldiers in the base, and tried to bring in construction equipment and other materials. Local residents again demonstrated to stop it.
