  • Arrested Wednesday, five new people were indicted and placed under judicial supervision after the rave party in Lieuron.

  • Placed in pre-trial detention since January 4, the first indicted was released.

  • A support rally is scheduled for Saturday in Rennes.

The judicial authorities are not relieving the pressure three weeks after the Lieuron rave party.

After the opening of a judicial investigation, led by two investigating judges, four people have already been indicted after the illegal party which brought together 2,500 people for New Years Eve south of Rennes.

On Wednesday, six new people, six men aged 21 to 26, were arrested in Ille-et-Vilaine and placed in police custody.

Two of them are already known to the courts for infringements of the legislation on narcotic products and one has already been convicted for organizational acts without prior declaration of a festive gathering of a musical nature.

"If some of those in custody admit to having been present on the premises of the free party on December 31, 2020, they however deny having participated in the organization of this one", indicates this Friday Philippe Astruc, public prosecutor of Rennes.

At the end of the police custody, five of them were indicted and placed under judicial supervision.

The sixth man arrested on Wednesday was placed under the status of assisted witness.

The prosecution also specifies that the first indicted, placed in pre-trial detention since January 4, was released and placed under judicial supervision.

A demonstration under close surveillance Saturday in Rennes

In a press release, "the committees of support for the accused of Maskarade" welcome the release of their comrade.

"But the investigation is ongoing to condemn the organizers of a simple party that has become a state affair", they denounce, calling for mobilization on Saturday in Rennes and January 30 in other cities in France.

The event scheduled for Saturday in the Breton capital will be closely watched.

“As this appeal was not the subject of a declaration at the prefecture, it does not fall within any legal framework”, indicates the prefecture of Ille-et-Vilaine.

"In view of the proven risks of public and health order", the prefect Emmanuel Berthier therefore issued a decree this Friday prohibiting the use of sound system equipment on Saturday on the Esplanade de Gaulle where the gathering is to be held.
