Cottbus (dpa / bb) - Age-related shopping times and free shuttle service for particularly vulnerable citizens: with these and other ideas, medium-sized companies in Cottbus are demanding the gradual opening of shops, restaurants and other facilities.

"When deciding on the necessary containment measures, the municipalities need more leeway on site based on the regional impact," says an eleven-point catalog of demands, the "Mittelstandsinitiative Cottbus", addressed to Mayor Holger Kelch (CDU) in his own letter on Thursday the state government has sent.

“Of course, we must continue to act against the virus in a disciplined manner;

but at the same time we have to create regulations in order to be able to live and do business with the virus, ”said the CDU politician's letter.

The catalog of medium-sized companies calls for the gradual opening of schools and the abandonment of closed daycare centers, each accompanied by extensive hygiene measures.

Economic aid should flow faster and more effectively.

The paper states, among other things, that retail stores, hardware stores, hairdressers and providers of body-friendly services must be possible again by mid-February.

From mid-February, restaurants, hotels, cultural and sports facilities would have to gradually reopen.

"Our alliance distances itself from groups that play down the corona virus, deny it and reject or block any measures," it says.

The aim is to work with the state and federal government as well as the municipalities to “find the consensus for a quick restoration of public life”.
