<Reporter> The

explosion occurred in a market in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq.

A man collapsed saying he had a stomachache, summoning people and bursting the bomb vest he was wearing.

After the first explosion, as people around the scene gathered to help the wounded, another man detonated a second bomb.

[Bagdad citizen (witness): The first explosion took place right in front of this building, and the second one took place over there.] A

series of bombings that lasted about 15 minutes apart have killed 32 people and injured 110 people, local media reported .

In the market where the explosion occurred, 38 people were killed in a series of suicide bombings in January 2018.

Iraqi military authorities are pointing to the remnants of the Islamic extremist militant group IS as the backbone of the terrorist attacks.

The IS was officially defeated in Syria in March 2019 after being pushed back by an allied sweeping operation, but the remnants remain and seek a resurgence.

The self-destruction terrorism has occurred ahead of Pope Francis' visit to Iraq in March, and concerns about the Pope's personal safety are also growing.
