Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The water sports fair Boot 2021 will not take place after all.

The Düsseldorf trade fair finally canceled the industry meeting for fans of sophisticated yachts and water sports on Thursday, which was last postponed to April, due to the ongoing pandemic and the associated global lockdown measures.

"The persistently high number of infections and the for the time being unpredictable end of the lockdown make a resumption of trade fair operations at the end of April increasingly unrealistic," said trade fair boss Wolfram Diener, explaining the move.

All activities would now be focused on the successful implementation of Boot 2022.

Boot 2022 plans to open its doors from January 22nd to 30th, 2022.

The aim is to return to the concept of boot Düsseldorf both as an event for all water sports enthusiasts and as a business and networking platform for the international specialist audience, emphasized the trade fair.

In addition, a hybrid trade fair experience is being worked on for 2022, which among other things will enable digital participation in seminars and events.

Shortly before the pandemic reached Germany, Boot 2020 had 252,000 visitors to see yachts and smaller motorboats as well as diving and surfing demonstrations, among other things.
