  • This Thursday, north of Toulouse, a motorist collided with three cyclists, at three different places.

    One did not survive.

  • At the end of a chase, a gendarme had to fire to stop the driver, without injuring her.

  • Aged 36, the suspect was hospitalized automatically.

In half an hour, the driver struck cyclists three times and in three different places.

One, aged 65, did not survive, another was shot in the hip, the third is shocked.

The successive collisions occurred this Thursday, at the end of the morning, north of Toulouse, causing a chase with the gendarmes.

Several hours after the tragedy, here is what we know about the investigation and the murderous journey of this woman.

Three accidents, at three different places

The first act of this drama took place around 11:15 am in the town of Fronton where a first cyclist was hit by a Renault Captur.

The driver fled, leading two gendarmerie brigades on her heels and hitting two other cyclists in her race, including one fatally in the town of Cépet.

A cyclist was first hit in Fronton, then two others, including one fatally, in Cépet.

The gendarmes had to take turns, some of their vehicles leaving the pursuit to help successive victims.

They are the ones who carried out the cardiac massage to the cyclist before the arrival of the emergency services which did not succeed in resuscitating him.

A non-lethal shot to stop the driver

The soldiers ended up overtaking the crazy car to block its passage.

The driver, still refusing to stop, struck their vehicle twice.

It was then that a gendarme opened fire.

"A single shot, in the front upright of the car," said Francis Boyer, vice-prosecutor of the Republic of Toulouse, on the spot.

He did not touch the driver but ended her fatal journey.

In her mad rush, she had already hit another motorist from behind.

Who is the motorist?

The gendarmes describe as "prostrate" the 36-year-old female driver whom they arrested in Cépet.

She is a resident of neighboring Tarn-et-Garonne.

She lives with her parents and experiences psychiatric disorders.

Her custody did not last long since she was hospitalized automatically after a medical examination.

"We do not yet know anything about his motivations," said the representative of the prosecution.

"The prosecution would be criminal if there were to be," added Francis Boyer.

He entrusted this aspect of the investigation to the Toulouse-Saint-Michel Research Brigade.

The Toulouse research section is for its part in charge of investigating the shooting which stopped the suspect.
