Podgorica (dpa / lno) - Justus Hollatz from Hamburg Towers has been appointed by national basketball coach Henrik Rödl for the two final European Championship qualifiers against Great Britain and Montenegro.

The 19-year-old is one of four players in the 17-man squad announced on Thursday who has not yet played an international match.

Bjarne Kraushaar (Jobstairs Gießen 46ers), Jonas Richter (Niners Chemnitz) and Len Adam Schoormann (Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt) hope to make their debuts in the two games on February 20 and 22.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the games will take place in a so-called bubble in Podgorica, Montenegro.

On February 11, Rödl wants to reduce the number of players to 13.

Hollatz had already been called up for the games in November against Montenegro and France in the 17-man squad, but was no longer one of the 13 players who traveled to Pau.

For the DBB team, the qualifying games are of no sporting importance because Germany is automatically qualified as co-host of the European championship, which has been postponed to 2022 due to Corona.

Then a preliminary round in Cologne and the final round in Berlin should take place.

Germany has only won one of the previous games.
