As explained to RT in the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia, in 2020, the department sent more than 400 requests to restrict access to information that violates the law on the Internet, of which 150 were associated with fakes about the spread of COVID-19.

“Most often, publications were revealed about the concealment by the authorities and medical organizations of the real scale of the spread of infection and human casualties;

on the transfer of servicemen and employees of the Russian Guard to large cities in order to severely limit the rights of citizens;

that the new coronavirus infection is a myth, and the measures taken to protect the health and well-being of people are superfluous, ”the department said.

In addition, according to the Prosecutor General's Office, pseudo-documentary videos are gaining popularity, which set out various kinds of conspiracy theories about COVID-19.

Also, sites were identified that sell fake passes for unhindered movement in Moscow and other regions, and Internet portals for the illegal collection of fines for violation of the self-isolation regime.

The peak of the spread of "crown-fakes" was in March, April and May 2020.

A decline in such activity was noted in summer.
