“I have sent proposals on the schedule of the first stages of the upcoming impeachment process to the leader (Democrats Chuck) Sumer and hope to continue the discussion with him,” RIA Novosti quoted McConnell as saying.

He noted that the Senate, the presidency, and Trump himself deserve a "full and fair process."

“Republicans believe that it is absolutely imperative not to allow the rush to go through in times of intense political turmoil,” he said.

McConnell offered to read the articles of impeachment in the Senate on January 28, and on February 4, 11 and 13, to set a timetable for the exchange of preliminary documents between Trump prosecutors from the House of Representatives.

Earlier, The Washington Post wrote that the leader of the Republicans in the US Senate, Mitch McConnell, proposed postponing the start of consideration of the impeachment procedure of former US President Donald Trump until February.
