The Algerian presidency said that President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on Wednesday, underwent successful surgery on his foot in a hospital in Germany.

"The President of the Republic, on Wednesday, in Germany, underwent a successful operation on his right foot, provided that he would return to the homeland within the coming days, as soon as he obtained the approval of the medical team," said a statement published by the presidency on its Facebook website.

Tebboune, 75, had received treatment for two months in Germany after being infected with the new Corona virus that causes Covid-19 disease, before returning to Berlin on the tenth of this month due to "complications" in his right foot linked to infection with Corona.

It is noteworthy that Tebboune returned to Algeria from Berlin on the 29th of last month to sign the 2021 budget before the 31st of the same month, and to sign the decree amending the constitution, in which a referendum was held on the first of last November.
