Neustrelitz (dpa) - As the first cultural institution in the Mecklenburg Lake District, the Neustrelitz cultural quarter is showing a new exhibition this year.

It is dedicated to the painter and graphic artist Bernd Kerkin and, due to the corona-related restrictions, can be experienced digitally from this Saturday, as the facility announced on Thursday.

The focus of the exhibition is on works from the “Requiem for R.” cycle, in which the 69-year-old deals with the cancer and death of his wife, who died in 2019.

In addition, paintings from 2020 will be presented.

Kerkin comes from Bernau near Berlin and studied architecture in Dresden.

Works by the artist can be found in the Kupferstichkabinett of the Nationalgalerie Berlin, the Museum of Modern Art New York and the Art Collection Neubrandenburg.

Kerkin has lived and worked in Groß Quassow near Neustrelitz since 1984.

Since it is uncertain when the Kulturquartier will be able to reopen, the exhibition will be available digitally from January 23, initially as a film and with pictures.

It should run until mid-March.
