Faced with high indebtedness and significant losses, the National Rally (RN) informed four employees of their upcoming redundancy and did not replace two early retirements, the party told AFP, confirming information from

Figaro

.

Four people from the communication service received their invitation to a preliminary interview for "economic" dismissal, the party leadership having "decided to outsource this service", according to the RN.

Change of premises

Two other employees have been placed on early retirement and will not be replaced.

The party has already made a dismissal this summer, according to

Le Figaro

.

The RN is also looking to move its headquarters, located in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine), to be closer to the center of Paris but also to save money with a smaller room.

The party, chaired since 2011 by Marine Le Pen, suffered a further loss in 2018 of 2.4 million euros, according to the latest published accounts of the party.

Personnel costs (salaries and social security contributions) notably represented 3.5 million euros in 2018, for 53 employees.

Debt at the end of 2018 reached 24.4 million euros, of which 15 million matured in less than one year.

In 2020, the RN received around 5.5 million euros in public funding.

Several loans contracted

But the RN had to repay 4.4 million euros of this aid to the Cotelec microparty of the FN co-founder, Jean-Marie Le Pen, a loan taken out for the 2017 presidential campaign.

He then found in June a rescheduling agreement with his Russian creditor, who was suing him for the non-repayment of a loan, taken in 2014, of approximately nine million euros.

To finance itself, the party has already launched several loans from its activists.

He still has to find 30 million euros for his next electoral campaigns (departmental, regional, presidential, legislative), according to his treasurer Wallerand de Saint-Just, who deplores that the banks refuse to lend him money.
