Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The state government appeals to the economy to offer more home offices, but is not planning any drastic expansion among its employees.

The main obstacle is the technical equipment, although the equipment with secured laptops has been improved since the spring, said government spokesman Andreas Timm at the request of the German Press Agency on Thursday.

In addition, there are functions that must be staffed on site.

Home office models exist in the State Chancellery and in all ministries.

In most cases, an A- and a B-shift were formed, in which office and home working days alternate.

"In some houses, the practice also applies that employees can work their shift from home even on" office days "if they do not need to be present at the ministry," said Timm.

The employees are encouraged to work from home as much as possible, there are now more than in spring.

"We are assuming that 86 percent of employees currently work from home on one or more days a week."
