Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Around 64,000 companies and self-employed people in Brandenburg received 579 million euros from the State Investment Bank (ILB) last year.

Without the special programs in the Corona crisis, 1.7 billion euros had been promised as funding for 5600 projects, the promotional bank announced on Thursday in Potsdam.

That corresponds roughly to the level of the previous year.

Despite the pandemic, business start-ups were also surprisingly strong.

The priority now lies in processing the applications for November and December aid for companies, said ILB board member Kerstin Jöntgen.

Last year, the development bank paid out 531 million euros in emergency aid to 61,200 companies and self-employed individuals.

2873 companies in Brandenburg made use of bridging aid I and II.

So far, 37 million euros have been paid out to them.

Since January 12, more than 50 employees of the bank processed the November and December aid, said Jöntgen.

The companies affected by the lockdown are to be reimbursed 75 percent of their corresponding sales in the previous year for the period of the closure.

Associations criticized the federal government for delays in paying out the November aid.

In 2020, the investment bank pledged a total of 2.3 billion euros for almost 70,000 projects.

Funding for infrastructure projects makes up the largest share with 703 million euros - for example for public projects, social infrastructure and broadband expansion for faster Internet.

In the economy, for example, 511 million euros went to industry.

447 million euros flowed into residential construction, including promotional loans and the promotion of rental housing.

35 million euros went into the work area.

For the current year, the development bank is planning a significantly lower funding volume - at 1.1 billion euros.

It should also be taken into account that the old EU funding period has ended in 2020 and that it will be a transition year.
