January 21, 2021 French actress Nathalie Delon, star among other films in Jean-Pierre Melville's "The Samurai", alongside Alain Delon, her husband at the time, died today in Paris at the age of 79.

His son Anthony Delon gave the news.

"My mother - said the son - died this morning at 11, in Paris, surrounded by her affections. She died of a cancer that was rapid".



The role of Jane, in "The Samurai" of 1967 is what gave her notoriety, but then Nathalie Delon - whose real name was Francine Canovas, of Spanish origin - made about thirty films, also impersonating non-prominent characters .

In the 1980s he went behind the camera and in 2006 he wrote a book of memories.



Alain Delon left Romy Schneider to marry her in August 1964, the couple then moved to Los Angeles where Anthony was born.

But Schneider's ghost was always present in the relationship between the two: "Alain - Nathalie said in an interview - never talked to me about her but from time to time I saw a shadow of sadness in her eyes".

On the set of "Il Samurai" the tension between the two was already very high, the divorce arrived in 1969.
