Magdeburg / Berlin (dpa) - The German Center for the Loss of Cultural Property can invest an additional 1.5 million euros in research into unlawfully confiscated cultural property this year.

The center announced on Thursday in Magdeburg that the promotion of the search for Nazi looted property will continue to make up by far the largest share.

A good five million euros are now available for this area.

The funds enable institutions and private individuals "to research unlawfully confiscated cultural assets even more intensively than before," said board member Gilbert Lupfer.

The Board of Trustees recently adjusted its guidelines for funding Nazi looted property and objects from colonial contexts.

The maximum funding amount for short-term projects was increased by 10,000 to 25,000 euros.
