Neumünster (dpa / lno) - Stubborn refusers of a corona quarantine imposed on them can in future be accommodated in an independent facility on the grounds of the Moltsfelde youth detention center in Neumünster.

"We will be ready for action on February 1st," said the executive board member of the Schleswig-Holstein district council, Sönke E. Schulz, of the German press agency.

The facility, which was presented to the public on Thursday, is intended for up to six people.

A court ultimately has to decide on an accommodation ordered by the health department.

According to the Infection Protection Act, so-called segregation comes into consideration as a last resort.

This means that someone must visibly refuse to adhere to the conditions, violations must be proven and a so-called threat approach must have been unsuccessful.

It is not known how many quarantine objectors there are in the country.

He assumes that those affected will spend the last days of their 10 or 14 day quarantine in the externally locked facility, said Schulz.

The Segeberg district will operate the accommodation and make it available to the other districts and independent cities.

12 to 15 people are employed through fee contracts.

More than 30 former police and correctional officers had volunteered.

The accommodation rooms are simple, but each have an individual wet cell, said Schulz.
