The State Duma approved the project to ban second citizenship for civil servants

RIA Novosti reports.

The project proposes to limit the ability to hold state and municipal positions in Russia "in connection with the availability of citizenship (nationality) of a foreign state or a residence permit or other document confirming the right of permanent residence of a citizen of the Russian Federation on the territory of a foreign state."

Also, civil servants will be required to report the termination of Russian citizenship and the acquisition of a document confirming the right to reside abroad.

On January 11, the Russian government supported the corresponding bill.
