Munich (dpa / lby) - For fear of the more aggressive mutation of the corona virus, there will be almost no classroom teaching in Bavaria until at least mid-February - not even for primary school students.

As expected, the cabinet decided on Wednesday in Munich.

There is only one small exception: for high school graduates who are about to take their final exams this year, alternating lessons can take place from February 1, “if the infection rate allows it”.

The same applies to students at vocational schools, where final exams or chamber examinations take place soon.

"Corona means an absolute permanent stress for the entire population," says Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU).

Unfortunately, there is still no reason to give the all-clear.

"We still have to be patient."

Aborting the measures would be a big mistake.

Söder again referred to the concern that the mutated virus could also be spread more widely in children.

Therefore, the lockdown must be extended.

How it goes after that depends solely on the further infection process.

The Council of Ministers implemented the decision of the federal and state governments, which also provides for the general extension of the lockdown until February 14th.

In the coming week, the Bavarian state parliament will again deal with the extension of the measures and vote on them.

In practice, the extension of the lockdown also means that large parts of the trade, hotel and catering industry will remain closed beyond January 31, although the number of infections in the Free State is currently falling again in many places.

In the day-care centers, there should also be only emergency care until at least mid-February.
