Munich (dpa / lby) - According to Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) in Bavaria, vaccinations have taken place in 80 percent of old people's homes.

62 percent of all nursing home residents had received an initial vaccination.

The same applies to 34 percent of the staff, said Söder.

“There is only one long-term strategic solution and that is vaccination,” said Söder.

The willingness to vaccinate is high, so far around a million people have reserved for a vaccination in the online portal.

Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) described the situation in old people's and nursing homes as a “key issue”.

The largest and most serious outbreaks were recorded there.

"And there are the people who built this country," said Holetschek.

Therefore, the number of corona tests for employees in old people's and nursing homes will now be increased from two to three per week.

One of them should be a PCR test.

In Bavaria they are vaccinated as quickly as possible.

According to Holetschek, 231,000 first vaccinations had been administered in the Free State by Wednesday morning.
