January 20, 2021 His name was Edwin, he was 46 years old. He was of African descent, and was very reserved. This is how a volunteer from the Community of Sant'Egidio described him, the homeless man found lifeless this morning in St. Peter's Square in Rome. Edwin was known and lived in the area, causing death from hypothermia or an illness.

There are 10, says the Community of Sant'Egidio, the homeless found dead since November in Rome in the same circumstances.

On 6 January a man of about 58 was found near Termini station, on 9 in Ostia. The Community of Sant'Egidio underlined how the pandemic has increased the number of homeless people, worsening their conditions.
