Over the past three years, the National Food Administration has issued a total of 134 injunctions against Swedish slaughterhouses.

90 of them have gone to slaughterhouses that are certified by Krav.

- No, I did not know that it looked so bad, says Krav's CEO Anita Falkenek.

How could you have missed it?

How is that possible?

- We have to review the routines in such cases, so that we can take part of this information at an earlier stage, she says.

Although the slaughterhouses are certified for food processing, Krav does not check the food safety of its certified slaughterhouses.

They trust that the National Food Administration ensures that the laws are complied with.

"Not acceptable"

But the injunctions that have been issued are precisely due to the fact that the National Food Administration assesses that the slaughterhouses do not comply with Swedish food legislation.

The shortcomings include faecal contamination, ie faeces on the carcasses of animals, and unclean knives used in slaughter.

The Kravs slaughterhouses that repeatedly do not comply with Swedish food legislation also make up more than half of all Kravs certified slaughterhouses for food processing.

Of the more than 30 slaughterhouses that now have Requirements Certification, 23 have received injunctions over the past three years.

As a consumer, you should trust that all products you buy in the store or restaurant comply with Swedish legislation regarding hygiene and product safety.

There is no difference between that, Requirement Certified and other.

Everything must maintain good hygiene and have good product safety.

And I mean that it is so, says Anita Falkenek.

But it must still interest you if it is the case that Kravslakterierna has bigger problems with hygiene issues and food safety than ordinary slaughterhouses?

- Yes, it is not acceptable that it looks like that.
