20 January 2021 North Rhine-Westphalia interrupts vaccinations for 10 days due to lack of doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine: this was confirmed by the Ministry of Health of the German land, according to Dpa.

"The changed quantity of vaccine supply ordered makes it necessary to change the vaccination plan" is written in a letter that reached the Official Gazette.

Vaccinations in nursing homes and elderly care homes in hospitals will therefore be suspended until January 31, with the next deliveries of the vaccine.

Delays in Switzerland are also holding back vaccinations

Delays in deliveries of Pfizer / BioNTech's anti-Covid vaccine are holding back the prophylaxis campaign also in Switzerland.

Due to adjustments in the production center in Puurs, Belgium, Pfizer is unable to deliver the agreed quantities of vaccine doses and the delay affects the vaccination plan in Graubünden which will only start at the end of January, informs the cantonal administration.

Of the 3 thousand vaccine doses agreed for January 18, 2021, he reports, the Public Hygiene Office has received only one thousand.

However, second doses are insured for people who have already undergone vaccination in retirement homes and nursing homes.

In addition to the vaccine produced by Pfizer / BioNTech, the Chur vaccination center at the Kreuzspital will also be able to count on the product from Moderna.

However, the other vaccination and testing centers, especially the decentralized ones, will have to make do with lower quantities of the product and this will cause further delays in the vaccination plan.

As expected, people belonging to certain risk groups (over 75 and adults with serious chronic diseases) will be vaccinated with priority, according to the Federal Commission for Vaccinations.

Prophylaxis will start from the end of January in the regional hospitals of Davos, Ilanz, Poschiavo, Schiers, Scuol and Thusis, as well as in the dedicated centers in Cama, Chur (Kreuzspital) and St. Moritz.

Vaccination consultations are the responsibility of family doctors.

As soon as the vaccine doses are available, the injection will also be possible in their studios.

After registration, appointments are assigned and confirmed by the vaccination centers and there is no possibility to choose the appointment.
