Werdau (dpa / sn) - In Werdau, an 81-year-old woman died after an explosion in a residential building.
Her husband of the same age was flown to a hospital with life-threatening injuries on Wednesday, the police said.
The explosion and subsequent fire occurred around noon in the semi-detached house in the Zwickau district.
The cause was initially unclear.
Criminal Investigation Specialists started the investigation.
According to the police, three people who were in the other half of the duplex were able to escape outside in time.
One of them and two first aiders were slightly injured and treated as an outpatient in an ambulance.
