Nuremberg / Munich (dpa / lby) - The Nürnberger Verkehrsbetriebe VAG have ordered 39 fully electric buses from MAN and thus awarded the company the largest electric bus order to date.

The delivery is planned for the course of the year, announced MAN on Wednesday.

Because the batteries are on the roof and there is no motor tower in the bus, the e-buses can transport more passengers - the electric articulated buses up to 120 passengers.

The e-buses are being built in the Polish MAN plant in Starachowice and are already running on regular routes in Munich, Hamburg, Wolfsburg, Belgium and Luxembourg.

The range is 200 kilometers.

They are loaded in a newly built depot near the depot.

VAG boss Josef Hasler said: "Our new city buses are only charged with green electricity."
