A lawyer from Düsseldorf has filed a lawsuit at the North Rhine-Westphalian Higher Administrative Court against the alcohol ban to protect against infection in public.

The state has anchored a corresponding ban in public spaces in the Corona Protection Ordinance.

The plaintiff is now calling for a review by the OVG in Münster by means of a so-called norm control application, as a spokeswoman for the German press agency said on Wednesday.

It is not known when the application will be decided.

A similar decision has already been made in another federal state: the Bavarian Administrative Court temporarily suspended the Bavarian alcohol ban in public spaces on Tuesday. The court granted an urgent application from a man from Regensburg.
