The only 22-year-old US poet Amanda Gorman recited a poem she wrote at the inauguration of the new US President Joe Biden.
In a striking red hat and yellow long coat, Gorman read her work “The Hill We Climb” at the event in front of the Capitol in Washington on Wednesday.
It is about the difficult times that the US has endured and still has to endure, the storming of supporters of the elected US President Donald Trump on the Capitol two weeks ago - but also about hope for the future.
“Being American is more than a pride we inherit.
It's the past that we step into and how we fix it, ”Gorman said.

Born in Los Angeles in 1998, Gorman was honored in 2017 by the US Library of Congress with the title "National Youth Poet Laureate".
