The new US President, Joe Biden, affirmed that he would be president of all Americans regardless of whether they supported him or disagreed with him, highlighting that his inauguration as president is a "victory for democracy."

Biden promised to "defeat white supremacy and domestic terrorism" two weeks after the storming of the Capitol.

"Today we are witnessing the emergence of political extremism and the theory of white supremacy and domestic terrorism ... we have to confront it and defeat it," he said in a speech delivered at his inauguration ceremony after he was sworn in.

He stated that the violence tried to shake the pillars of American democracy and Congress but failed, and spoke of the United States being a "great nation" that succeeded in making long strides to achieve the best always.

Biden added, "What the Americans have learned through recent events is that democracy is very precious, but it is sometimes fragile, but it is stronger and prevailed in the end."

He stated that his victory in the elections is not a victory for a candidate, but a victory for American democracy, adding that "more must be done to heal the wounds of this nation."

"At this hour my friends, democracy prevailed ... Today we celebrate victory, not a candidate’s victory, but a cause. The cause of democracy," he added.

He said that past experiences confirmed to the Americans the existence of facts and lies, calling for consolidating the elements of unity among all and protecting the right to difference and expressing it peacefully, stressing that difference does not lead to discrimination.

Biden spoke about the Corona virus and its death toll from hundreds of thousands of Americans, as well as its enormous social and economic cost, and pledged to overcome these negative repercussions through unity, hard work, protection of the middle class, values ​​of social justice and the right to health care.

During his speech, he called for a silent prayer of mercy for the souls of the victims of the virus, and said, "We have learned that there are facts and lies during the past days. The lies must be defeated."
