Osnabrück (dpa / lni) - A 49-year-old man has had to answer to the Osnabrück regional court since Wednesday for fatal knife wounds on his wife.

The public prosecutor's office accuses the Macedonian citizen of killing his wife on the street in Bramsche on August 17 last year.

The man is said to have pushed her into a ditch at an underpass under the federal highway 68 and then killed her with knife stabs in the chest and back.

The prosecutor said that he found himself in a state of reduced guilt due to his mental health.

Because no expert was present at the start of the trial, only the defendant's family history was discussed on the first day of the trial.

The incident itself has not yet been discussed.
