CNN revealed that the outgoing US President Donald Trump does not intend to pardon himself, contrary to the expectations of some observers, but that he will issue an amnesty to about 100 convicts hours before he leaves the White House.

"CNN" indicated that Trump's legal advisers warned him of the consequences of pardoning himself and his family members, and a number of his close advisers warned him not to grant amnesty to anyone involved in storming Congress.

And the network considered that the outgoing president’s decision to issue a presidential pardon for Republican lawmakers suspected of inciting them to attack Congress would arouse anger.

CNN said that Trump also decided to pardon his former adviser Steve Bannon at the last minute.

She added that Trump held a meeting at the White House to put the final touches on the list of people to be included in his pardon today, Wednesday, as he plans to issue a presidential pardon for about 100 convicts.

This comes after the House of Representatives approved legislation to impeach Trump, becoming the first president in US history to face impeachment charges twice.

The question still remains in Washington circles about the constitutionality of the trial of a president after the official expiration of his term.

No American president has ever pardoned himself, and there is a wide division among constitutional law experts regarding the president's entitlement to exercise this right.

In the midst of the mid-2018 Russian intervention investigations, Trump reiterated that he had the "absolute right" to pardon himself in accordance with the constitution.
