Oster-Ohrstedt (dpa / lno) - The Backensholz farm in Oster-Ohrstedt (North Friesland district) is one of three winners of this year's national organic farming competition.

The Bioland Hof was awarded "for establishing a high-quality and, if possible, closed-cycle economy using the latest digital technologies", as the Federal Ministry of Agriculture announced on Wednesday.

The award is associated with 7,500 euros.

According to Agriculture Minister Julia Klöckner (CDU), Corona is also changing the way we handle food.

«Consumers buy more consciously and in a more targeted manner.

They place a higher value on regionality and also on organic products. "

This was shown by the results of the eco-barometer.

"The organic industry got a boost in the pandemic," said Klöckner.

The national competition is intended to honor role models who advance organic farming in an innovative and exemplary manner.
