Biden's political heart issues have not been in direct focus during the election campaign.

And according to Johanna Möllerström, it is one thing that is more important than anything else.

- I think his heart issue right now is peace and quiet, she says.

At the same time, Möllerström believes that Biden has had to make several political promises to gather support from the left wing within his own party.

Here are the changes that Biden is expected to implement.

Increased minimum wages

Today, the federal minimum wage in the United States is $ 7.5 per hour.

Joe Biden wants to raise it - to $ 15 an hour.

Even though many states already have a higher minimum wage than 7.5 dollars and are not affected at all by the increase, this could make a big difference for those who earn the least in the country, says Möllerström.

- Then there is a lot of discussion among researchers and politicians about whether this can lead to higher unemployment.

We will have to wait and see the result of that, she adds.

Record investment in the climate

The budget for Joe Biden's climate plan is $ 2 trillion, which is equivalent to SEK 2,000 billion.

Never before has so much money been invested in climate action in the United States.

He has not yet released any further details about the plan, but he broadly wants to move away from fossil energy, fund green research and offer subsidies for individuals and companies who want to invest in the environment.

Repair the reputation abroad

The Biden administration will try to soften the foreign relations that have deteriorated during Trump's time in power - among other things, they want to return to the Paris Agreement as soon as possible.

But when it comes to handling China, Möllerström says that Biden is not expected to repair very much.

Instead, he can take advantage of the fact that Trump "sat hard against hard".

- Biden is probably in silence quite grateful, says Möllerström.

Reform the police force

One of Biden's top priorities is the position of the African-American population in the United States - a group from which he received strong support during the election.

- You could say that without the black voters he would never have become president, says Dag Blanck, professor of North American studies at Uppsala University.

Since George Floyd's death, discussions about financing the police have flared up.

Biden distances himself from that, but has said that he wants to reform the police force to prevent police violence from continuing.
