Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) - Because he is said to have cleared the accounts of an animal welfare foundation as an estate administrator, a lawyer and notary is on trial in Frankfurt from today.

The indictment puts the 73-year-old in front of the regional court of embezzlement with a total volume of around 1.8 million euros (Ref .: 7310 Js 227833/18).

As the executor of a well-to-do Swiss couple, the defendant is said to have opened a foundation in 2003.

However, he used the vast majority of the foundation's assets for himself and only passed around 54,000 euros on to an animal welfare association.

According to the indictment, an accomplice was a tax advisor who had since died.

The commercial criminal chamber has scheduled four days of hearing until mid-February.
