The four winners are Hi3G (Tre), Net4mobility (Tele2 and Telenor), Telia and Teracom.

The delayed auction was overshadowed by the fact that Chinese Huawei and ZTE were both removed from the auction.

Bidders won licenses in two frequency bands.

The total auction proceeds amounted to SEK 2,317,000,006 (just over SEK 2.3 billion), money that now goes to the Treasury.

This was announced by the Swedish Post and Telecom Agency (PTS) shortly after 5 pm when the auction ended on Tuesday.

"Central to 5G development"

Hi3G Access, Net4Mobility and Telia Sweden all won in the 3.5 GHz bands.

The company Teracom in turn won the entire 2.3 GHz band.

“As these frequencies have now been allocated, there are conditions for strengthening the capacity for mobile broadband services and for the development of the Internet of Things in Sweden.

The award will be central to the Swedish 5G development ", says PTS's CEO Dan Sjöblom in a press release.

PTS will within the next few days make all allocation decisions.

Chinese controversy

The sale of the Swedish 5g network has made headlines when the two Chinese giants Huawei and ZTE were removed from the sale.

The decision to exclude the companies was made by PTS in October last year, with reference to the fact that Säpo believes that Hauwei risks damaging Sweden's security.
