Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - Sales in the North Rhine-Westphalian retail trade in November 2020 were 4.3 percent above the previous year's level.

Also in real terms, i.e. taking into account the


price development, the plus was 3.4 percent, as the State Statistical Office announced in Düsseldorf on Tuesday.

The highest increases in sales compared to November 2019 were recorded in the bicycle trade with an increase of 47.8 percent and the toy trade with an increase of 34.4 percent.

According to the statisticians, above-average increases in sales were also recorded in mail order and online retailing with 31.2 percent and in the retail trade with metal goods, paints, building and home improvement supplies (plus 23.2 percent).

In contrast, sales by dealers at stalls and markets fell by 19.3 percent.

In the retail trade with textiles, clothing and shoes, the decrease was 17.4 percent.

For the first eleven months of 2020, the statisticians determined a real increase in sales of 3.7 percent for the NRW retail sector.

In nominal terms, sales increased by 4.9 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

The average number of


employees in retail fell by 0.1 percent in the first eleven months.
