Erfurt (dpa / th) - The Thuringians have to be prepared for a longer lockdown with even stricter corona rules.

Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (left) announced on Tuesday evening after hours of consultation with his country colleagues and Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) that he wanted to implement the resolutions of the round in the Free State.

"I don't see any change that would not correspond to today's MPK decision," said Ramelow after the Prime Minister's Conference (MPK).

These include an obligation to wear more protective masks in local public transport and in shops as well as an extension of the previous lockdown measures until mid-February.

This means that many shops, restaurants and bars in the Free State will remain closed.

Exceptions still apply to supermarkets, among others.

The lockdown was initially scheduled until the end of January.

Now the prime ministers have agreed with the federal government on an extension.
