Work has just started in Nantes on the Tertre campus.

The University Library of Letters, frequented by hundreds of thousands of students since its opening in the 1960s (and reopened since November 9), will change its face.

For two years, and in the presence of the users, the first complete renovation of the interior spaces will be carried out there, after the work of the north wing carried out in the 2000s. “The library was large but old-fashioned, it was cold there,” says Mélissa, who frequented this place.

Furniture and computer equipment needed to be changed.

Work rooms in groups, electrical outlets ...

These requests have been heard since the work will allow "the improvement of comfort and the integration of new functions" at the BU, the largest of the Nantes university campus.

For example, students will benefit from more group work rooms, convivial spaces or electrical outlets.

For those who are nostalgic, the university specifies that one of its concerns is to “conserve and enhance aspects of the original architecture”, even if the surroundings will also be renovated.

"Particular attention will be paid to reuse", specifies the University of Nantes.

The budget for this project amounts to 7 million euros.
