Hanover (dpa / lni) - The city of Hanover wants to temporarily accommodate homeless people with the help of the model project “Plan B-OK” and offer them social advice.

The project will start on January 20, the city announced.

Hanover's Lord Mayor Belit Onay will present the project today, Tuesday (12 noon).

The aim is to permanently improve the housing and living conditions of homeless people.

The corona pandemic exacerbates the plight of people on the street.

With the help of private donations, 34 homeless people could be accommodated in two hotels in Hanover in December; the Niedergerke Foundation pays for the room rent.

In spring, the city had already housed around 100 homeless people in a youth hostel and in the Friends of Nature House on the edge of the Eilenriede city forest due to the corona pandemic. The offer expired in mid-October. That triggered massive criticism.
