Villeurbanne lost 101 to 93 after extra time against the Greek club Olympiakos Piraeus, Tuesday in his room at Astroballe, after a late match of the 10th day of the Euroleague that the Rhodaniens have saw win.

This meeting, which was initially scheduled to be played on November 20, was postponed after several Olympiacos players tested positive for Covid-19.

Asvel with six wins for fourteen defeats remains at the bottom of the standings (17th) and sees its ambitions to qualify for the play-offs between the best eight fading even further.

For its part, Olympiakos, which won its eleventh success for nine defeats (well 11-9) is 10th and remains within reach of the Top 8.

The Villeurbannais, deprived of Moustapha Fall and Amine Noua, could not repeat their feat achieved in Piraeus (69-63), Friday.

Aggressed in the interior game and in difficulty defensively, they can blame themselves for missing the first quarter lost time 23-15 after taking a 7-0 when they were leading 11-8 to end up at 11-15 .

The champions of France have failed, in particular, to control the playing master of their opponents, Kostas Sloukas (23 points), in much better form than Friday (2 pts) and which was decisive in key moments.

It was he who put the two teams tied in the fourth quarter on a two-point basket and a free throw (79-79) then snatched overtime with a three-point basket nine seconds from the mermaid (86-86).

After the loss of the first quarter, Villeurbanne nevertheless reacted well under the impetus of Ismaël Bako (10 pts) initially then of Norris Cole (21 pts), William Howard (16 pts), David Lighty (18 pts) or Kevarrius Hayes (13 pts), or five players with ten points and more.

It is in particular Hayes who equalized at 68-68 then gave the advantage to his team on a free throw (69-68, 32nd).

Asvel even managed to win the following three quarters (22-21, 24-19, 25-23) but physically sinned at the end and lacked lucidity in extra time.

Villeurbanne will try to redeem itself Thursday, still at the Astroballe, against the Spanish team of Valencia.
