Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - The Dax has risen and returned to the 14,000 point mark.

Mostly good indications from Asia and the US stock exchanges, which were kindly expected after the long weekend, provided support for the leading index, which rose 0.45 percent to 13,910.23 points in early trading.

The plus was thus less pronounced than expected in the pre-trading session, but overall the bargain hunters remained active as on the previous day.

The MDax, which celebrates its 25th birthday on Tuesday, rose 0.41 percent to 31,334.85 points.

The euro zone benchmark index EuroStoxx saw a similar increase.

The US leading index Dow Jones Industrial is heading for a friendly start after the holiday.

In Asia there were mostly significant gains.
