Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The AfD parliamentary group in the Mainz state parliament has the so-called special fund in the Rhineland-Palatinate supplementary budget checked for its constitutionality.

The parliamentary group announced on Tuesday that a regulatory review application would be submitted to the Constitutional Court on the same day.

The parliamentary director Jan Bollinger said: “A shadow budget of over one billion euros will be created, which is beyond the control of parliament.

With the special fund, we have a violation of our constitution and one of its greatest assets, namely parliamentarism and parliamentary budget law. "

The financial policy instrument also violates the principle of economic efficiency and the debt brake.

According to the AfD, the state government and state parliament will have the opportunity to comment on the norms control procedure, but they do not have to do so.

The group does not expect a decision anytime soon.

The so-called special fund of 1.1 billion euros is intended to finance programs to deal with the consequences of corona.

This fund is also intended to provide funds for the purposes specified in a separate law after the 2020 budget year.

It covers ten areas from broadband expansion to support for local public transport.
