Berlin (dpa) - Mesut Özil is said to have signed a long-term contract with his new club Fenerbahce Istanbul.

As the "Bild" newspaper reports, the 32-year-old former German national soccer player has received a contract until 2024.

Özil had traveled with his family from London to Istanbul on January 17th.

He had played for Arsenal for seven and a half years in the Premier League, but had not been on the pitch since March 2020.

At the Premier League club, Özil's contract would have expired in the summer.
