Bernau (dpa / bb) - This year's Brandenburg Day in September in Bernau (Barnim) has the motto "City, Country, Panke - Bernau connects".

The city announced on Monday.

"We are announcing the motto right now to bring joy and hope to the outside world," explained Mayor André Stahl (left).

Right now this day stands as a "bearer of hope" for local gastronomy, business, culture and initiatives.

The three-day festival will take place from September 3rd to 5th this year.

The state government decided in September 2019 that the 17th Brandenburg Day will be hosted by Bernau near Berlin in 2021.

The city has more than 40,000 inhabitants.

The last Brandenburg Day took place in Wittenberge in 2018.

According to the city, Bernau, located in the northeast of Berlin, will receive its guests with its medieval town center. The national festival wants to present diversity and also draw attention to cultural treasures on your own doorstep. Bernau is planning Brandenburg Day as a community festival and not in smaller versions, said a city spokeswoman for the German press agency on Monday. The major event was coordinated with the relevant state committees. "We are assuming that the promises of the federal and state governments regarding the corona vaccination strategy will work and hope that Brandenburg Day 2021 will be the opener in normal everyday life."
